I am so touched and flattered!  Today, I received a notice from a fellow blogger, Laura Lamere, that she was nominating The Tucson Songstress for the “2012 Blog of the Year” Award.  How completely kind of her!  We only recently started following each other’s blogs, but there is an instant kinship.  I love this gal!  In her own words describing herself:

“Hi, I’m Laura Lamere, writer, rocker mom and founder of a new web “Zine” for young musicians: Pavoh.org. Part memoir, part resource, my writing expresses my passion that parents can, should and will enjoy supporting their artistic and creative kids.”

Check this lady’s blog out!  It’s awesome.  Afterall, how could a “rocker mom’s”  blog be anything less than fabulous?  Click HERE to go to Laura Lemere’s blog.

Now….onto the business end of things.  This blog award is not awarded by a professional blogging organization.  Rather, it was created by bloggers itself.  It’s like the “People’s Choice Award” of the blogging world, and I am giving huge virtual high fives and smiles to “the Thought Palette” for creating it.  Click HERE to go their blog, which is committed to ” the challenge, struggles and joy of being creative.”

The Blog of the Year Award has rules to follow.  Here they are:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/   and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

So that’s it!  I now have a job to do.  I need to nominate my 2012 Blog of the Year Awardees.  And they are (drum roll, please….)

Spectacular Sentience: Spectaular Sentience lives in London, and when the Olympics were going on the this past summer, I felt like I was right there.  I watched the whole thing through his eyes.  His photography is awesome, and you should really check out his site.  Click HERE to go to Spectacular Sentience.

Ukelefty’s Uke Haven: I love this blog!  Ukelefty is a left-handed uke player that has a passion for uke music.  He posts videos of cool performances and write all about the shows he goes to.  He inspires me to practice playing my ukulele, which would otherwise be seriously neglected.  Click HERE to go to his awesome site.

Jewish Music Voice:  Jewish Music Voice is Jewish Rock Radio’s blog, and they asked me to guest blog for them this year, which was truly an honor.  Jewish Rock Radio is “the first high-caliber, 24/7 international online Jewish rock radio station broadcasting exciting contemporary Jewish rock music,” and Jewish Music voice is a natural extension to their already successful endeavor.  I was so proud to be involved with such a great project, so please click HERE to check them out.

Finally….last, but certainly not least….

Laura Lamere: Now this is one inspiring musical Mama, and I am so happy to get to know her better through her blog.  I feel so honored that a musical blog of this high caliber would choose my blog for this very cool award.  Thank you, Laura!  Now give yourself a star, my musical soul sistah!  Click HERE to go to her site.

So that’s it, folks!  What a happy day.  I hope my nominees feel as special as I did when they receive their award.  It’s like a blogger’s warm fuzzies, and I feel them all over!

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!

  1. Hi sista! Thanks for sending the love back my way – just one little detail – I’m LAmere (you know, the mother in French – fits right?) not LEmer (the ocean – although I’ve probably shed an ocean’s worth of tears, but that’s another story…) Happy Holidays!
