A Dollar, Dollar Bill Y’all, #425

Standard

Before my family and I ever leave on a road trip,  I always make sure to make a stop at The Dollar Store.  I peruse the aisles with my basket, and stock up!  Besides snacks for the road, I buy toys.  Lots and lots of toys.  Several years ago, I got the brilliant idea that I would give the kids a toy every hour of the trip to try to make the hours in the car go faster. (Not to mention what good bribery these toys are for good behavior!)  They love having something to look forward to, and beyond that, they love to play with their new stuff.  It’s become a “thing” in my family, and I know that this “thing” is something they’ll always remember.

Thank goodness for the Dollar Store, because without it, I would have never started our road trip tradition.  Personally, I’m a big fan of The Dollar Tree (http://www.dollartree.com/home.jsp), and it always amazes me what you can find in there.  Not only do I hit up this economical store for our road trip tradition, but I buy party supplies there (great place for plates, table cloths and cutlery), greeting cards and wrapping paper, crafts, party favors, holiday decorations, and the list goes on.  Simply, The Dollar Tree rocks!

I just read online that The Dollar Tree is actually a public company and a Fortune 500 company, too!  Who knew?  Time to call the stock broker, because I swear, this place will never fail!  It operates 4400 stores in 48 states, and I can’t imagine anything but growth with a place that sells everything for $1.00.  What an amazing and impressive concept.

My song of the day is one that I am new to, but I really like its urban reggae vibe.  The song is called “Sweetest Girl,” written by WyclefJean and performed with Akon, Wyclef Jean, Lil Wayne and Niia.  It’s a perfect song for a blog about The Dollar Tree, because of it’s catchy chorus which repeats “A dollar, dollar bill y’all!”  Check out this song and its very cool video, too.  Click HERE to go and watch it on Youtube and enjoy your day!  🙂

  1. I went there for birthday supplies this year and was shocked at how cheap it ended up being. Oriental Trading company used to get my business, but no more. Great idea on the toys every hour!
