Get ‘Cha Head In the Game, #432

Last night I had a meaningful moment with my son.  We worked on homework together.  This may not sound so meaningful to all of you, but this was his very first homework assignment ever in his little life.

He is in Kindergarten now, and we are supposed to read with our Kinders every night.  (I do that anyway, as I’m sure many parents do.)  Only now that he is in school, he is asked to write and draw pictures about two of the books we read during the week.  Last night, we read a “Star Wars” book, and he took the assignment very seriously and gave me no trouble at all about completing it.  I think he felt proud to be doing homework just like his big sister does.

He had such a good attitude about it, and I know, he has no idea about how many homework assignments lie ahead in his future.  Thank goodness he is embracing school, and I can only pray that this attitude will continue.  My fingers are crossed, and it feels amazing to be on the right track.

My song of the day comes from one of my very favorite movies about school.  The teeny bopper in me loved “High School Musical” so much, and that Zac Efron is adorable!  I know he’s like 20 years younger than me, but oh…..SWOON!!!!!  I chose the song “Get ‘Cha Head in the Game,” because I am proud of my boy having his “head in the game.”  Click HERE to go to the Youtube link to watch this very fun movie scene and to hear the song.

Having your “head in the game” is the key to success, because if you have the right attitude, the results won’t ever be bad.  Here’s hopin’ for my little guy!

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!
