One Time, #508

Yesterday, a group of elementary school students were having a friendly argument over who was more talented:  Justin Bieber or One Direction.  Of course, this little debate made me smirk from an overload of preteen cuteness, but I am going to answer the question right now.  Justin Bieber has more talent in his pinky finger than all of the One Direction guys put together.  This is not an opinion.  This is a fact.  Let’s break it down:

Justin Bieber writes his own music, plays guitar, piano, drums, dances, sings and became famous at such a young age because of his drive and tenacity.

One Direction sings, plays no instruments, doesn’t write any of their own material and can’t dance.  Their boy band was pieced together by money-grubbing producers who knew how to make young girls hearts swoon.

So, preteen friends and to my own daughter who has decided to replace her JB poster with a One Direction poster in her bedroom, there is no comparison.  If you’re going to listen to bubble gum pop, go for the full flavor Bubblicious…..not the less tasty imitation brand.  To remind you of why you fell in love with the Biebs in the first place, here he is singing on a radio show….just him and his guitar…stripped down from sound effects and production.  I know for a fact One Direction wouldn’t sound that good without all the gloss.  Click HERE to go to Youtube and to hear Justin Bieber’s “One Time.”  So, perhaps JB’s star has fallen just a bit, but there is a good reason it rose in the first place.  Know what you’re listening to!

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!
