My life sometimes seems like it is a pile of laundry: a big mound of mess that needs to be dealt with, but with which I do everything to avoid. The longer I procrastinate tackling it, the worse it gets.
Here’s the thing though. Once I finally do sort it into colors and set aside some time to throw a load in, it’s really not that bad. In fact, once one load is in, I can do all of the other gazillion chores and activities I need to do as I wait between cycles. So why do I let it pile up?
I guess the same could be said of almost anything in life. Why is it that I build up tasks to be something that is impossible when in reality, they’re really simple….for the most part anyhow. Life really is like a big pile of laundry..full of colors and mess that needs to be sifted through, but once you get to the bottom of the pile, there is a feeling of accomplishment.
My song today is “Dirty Laundry” by Don Henley. I was driving around town the other night, and this song came on the radio. That is when I began thinking of the analogy to life and laundry, and the thought has stuck with me for several days.
