Home, #556

I’m only just now getting on the Phillip Phillips band wagon.  My children’s dire need for Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network deny me any good opportunities to watch TV in Prime Time, so it is understandable that since becoming a mother, I have not watched American Idol.

I used to love the show.  I even went to a taping of it when I lived in Los Angeles during Season 2…you know, the Clay Aiken/Ruben Studdard year.  I was glued to my TV set just like the rest of the world when Kelly Clarkson beat out Justin Guarini.  So, I am regretting that I didn’t force my kiddos watch the  Phillip Phillips season!  The more I listen to his song, “Home,” I’m realizing just how much I like his sound and that I want to hear more from him.

It is so much more difficult for me to discover new music today, as I am just too busy to really be involved.  I don’t spend time in clubs anymore, and MTV doesn’t play videos anymore.  I do spend time in my car and listen to the radio, so that’s pretty much the extent of new music coming at me.  My students keep my up to date, too, and thank goodness for them!  I guess my own kids will get me into new cool tunes as they get older, too.  It’s something to look forward to.

So, my song of the day is Phillip Phillip’s “Home,” simply because I like it.  It’s nice to hear talent and song writing and a musical instrument.  I get tired of all of the electronic pop out there, and this music seems very honest to me.  Click HERE to go to Youtube to hear Phillip Phillip’s “Home.”  It’s truly a great song.
