You’re My Best Friend, #579

Standard

Some husbands bring their wives flowers when they’re being romantic.  I’ve had my share of roses, but this time, my husband came home with, “I have an early Valentine’s present, but I have to give it to you now.”  After a game of 20 questions, I discovered that he signed me up for Sirius radio and that it would be active the next morning as I drove to work.

At first I thought, “What’s the big deal with that?,” but I have to say, as I’ve been driving around listening to all of my “Premium” selections, I am loving it.  My hubby knows I am a music fanatic, and he was right.  This really is a romantic gift.

Last night I discovered a channel called “The Coffee House,” and as the name suggests, the music on this channel is acoustic singer/songwriters.  Of course, it’s right up my alley.  Listening to that channel made me realize that Sirius is worth its weight in gold.  I heard a beautiful cover of Queen’s song “You’re my Best Friend,” and immediately went to Google when I returned home to figure out who this lovely duet was.

The singers are “Renee and Jeremy,” and I was pleasantly surprised that they describe their music as “kid’s music that grown ups can listen to.”  Ends up, they’re a husband and wife team and also parents.  They’re sound is so mellow and soothing and so perfectly not annoying for parents!  A couple of their other covers I listened to on Youtube were “Yellow” by Coldplay and “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” by Jackie DeShannon.  Their original songs are just as great, and this is music that is definitely worth checking out.

So, my song of the day is Renee and Jeremy’s cover of “You’re My Best Friend,” because it grabbed me enough to seek out some more.  Click HERE to go to Youtube to listen to this very sweet version of an old classic.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  I can vouch.  This music is as good as a dozen long-stem roses.
