Planet Earth, #896

Standard

Last night we had dinner with my cousin who was in from out of town.  This is my cousin who I grew up with and have a gazillion memories with.  We don’t get to see each too often anymore, and it’s been over 5 years since the last time we saw each other.  It was amazing seeing him, and it makes me realize just how much I miss so many of my relatives.  I must, must, must make it a point to visit all of this family I love so much.

I want to share a funny laugh from last night with all of you.

I was always the youngest in the family.  My cousin, who we saw last night was the oldest.  Though we have over 10 years between us, we all got along really well.  My cousin, however, is a classic rock guy.  Faint memories of “Framptom Comes Alive” flanks my childhood, and I think that was because of him.  I love all music now, but for many years, all I could listen to was Duran Duran.  My cousin teased me relentlessly for it.  “They’re crap!”  Oh…it would be like a dagger right in to my heart every time he said it.  Duran Duran were my boys!

So, last night during dinner, I suddenly blurted out, “I want you to know.  I still love Duran Duran!”  We were all laughing.  Such a funny memory that only someone who grew up with me would understand.

So, dear cuz, this song of the day is for you.  I’m giving you some Duran Duran just to prove my stubborn point…they’re awesome.  Click HERE to hear “Planet Earth.”  It was great seeing you last night.  All my love….xoxoxo

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!
