Ziggy Stardust, #1091

I swear!  I’m living with Ziggy Stardust in the house…our maybe two Ziggy Stardusts.  My kids definitely follow the beats of their own drum, and they can never do anything like any other kids.

Most of the time I love this creativity and uniqueness that they both seem to embody, but at this moment, as I am planning child #2’s b-day party, I am feeling the pain!

In my 10 years of planning birthday parties for two children, there has only been one time that my kids have chosen one of those birthday cakes out of the book at the bakery.  My kids are just not your typical Spiderman, Batman, Cinderella type of kids.  Even when my daughter had a “Frozen’ cake like every other girl across the country, the one in the book was just not good enough for her.  We ended up with this cake instead.  Pretty awesome, huh?  Yes, but a lot of extra planning for Mom!

My son’s interests do conform with the rest of the 8-year-old boy population, but of course, there are no Minecraft of Stampy Cat cakes in that darn book!  Please!!!  This is so annoying!

So, I’m off to Toys-R-Us to today to buy Mincraft toys to stick on top (If I can find them!), and I probably will have to hand-make every party favor, too.  Just why can’t it be simple?

So…the song of the day is for my little Ziggy Stardusts who refuse to follow the norm.  Lord help me!

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!
