Anticipation, #1132

This was such a fun weekend!  It was “camp” weekend, and many camp directors from all over the country came for camp fairs to sell their resident camps.  I love camp people so much.  It’s always refreshing to be around them.  Simply, they’re my people.

My kids were pretty excited, too.  My daughter has gone away to camp for two summers in a row now, and this is the first summer that my son will go away, too.  It’s going to be so weird with both of them gone.

Well this weekend, my kids were beginning to get pretty excited by the notion, and my daughter turned to me in the car and asked, “So when does camp start anyway?”  I explained that it was 5 months away, and her eyes bugged out of her head.  “Why would they do that to us?  Now I’m all excited, and we have to wait that long?”  I tried explaining that the camp directors were coming to meet new potential campers, and that sending a kid to camp is a difficult decision for a parent.  Oh, she was so disappointed!

So, full of anticipation, the count down to camp has begun.  We’re ready and waiting, and while we do, here’s Carly Simon singing the anthem of the moment.  Enjoy y’all!

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!
