I’m kind of tired this morning, but it was really yesterday that prompted me to write this blog today. I had a crazy night – 2 rude awakenings right in the middle. At 2:30, the cat began howling for no reason at all. We never actually figured out why she was suddenly overcome with a need to make all that racket, but when it happened I couldn’t fall back to sleep for an hour.
Finally resting, at 4:30, there was a little voice standing over me. “Mom…Dad….I had a scary dream.” Uggghhh — really? Must you wake me up? Nerves needed to be calmed though, and once more an interruption that cut into my much needed beauty rest.
Every morning my alarm goes off at 5:30, so when I found myself dozing as I was going to the bathroom, I realized that sometimes you can’t do anything at all without proper rest. So I did something I never ever do….I went back to bed. I reset the alarm for an hour later, forgot about morning blogging and fell back to sleep the minute my head hit the pillow. It made all the difference. I got through my day and was able to function.
Sleep is so important, and truly, I am the worst at making it a priority. There are just not enough hours in day, and I’m completely lucky if I get 6 hours in a night. Crazy, huh?
Well, at least it gives me a good excuse to give you all a Beatles tune for my song of the day. Beatles make everything better. So enjoy and get some good rest!
